Chapter 3: Signing Away Your soul

"M m m my na name is..."

"Do not be afraid boy, you have called me, I wont bite, unless thats what you called me for." she said with a smile. He suddenly felt at peace, and began to speak once again, this time with utter confidence.

"My name Is Vincent Du' Pont, and I need your help."

"Forward are we, my delectable human specimen."

"I wish it didn't have to be so, but my situation is dire and I truly need your help."

"What is it you need?"

"I have a few things I need to do, and I require both your skills and your protection."

"I have already accepted your sacrifice, all you need do is release me from the seal."

"You dont need any details before this to decide?"

"NO, JUST RELEASE ME FROM THE SEAL DU'PONT!"

A voice, identical to Mona's, rung from underneath the ground, "DON'Y DO IT, THAT ISN'T MONA, I AM, ITS A DOPPLEGANGER!"

The possible doppleganger turned to below and calmly said, "Quiet you lesser being, or I shall tear you from existence. "

The same claws he had see rise from the ground before pulled up again, although this time, they seemed to have sparks subsiding in the space around them. The claws grabbed at the ankles of the Mona on the surface, and effortlessly tore her in half anmd drug her under. The other Mona pulled herself into the human plane of existence and said with a giggle, "Morning, you humans really need to look out for dopplegangers, can easily destroy your life. "

"How can I trustt that you are the real Mona then?"

"you can't, " Mona said, still laughing, "I'm a demon, why would you think you should trust me, you just have to let your guard down and hope I dont kill you."

"Okay then, I guess you are right."

"Oh, and I acceept your terms, I will guard and help you Vincent," she said with an outstretched hand. Vincent then smudged a small portion of the blood with his shoe and a barrier previously invisible shattered and dropped to the ground. "Thank you," she said with a smile.

He was worried.

Chapter 2: The Rising Beast

The time had come, he had awaited this day for near a year now, since the mistake he made after the world had fallen to ruin,, he would do anything to get Mona's help, anything. He noticed that her clawed hands came once again from the grounnd, but this time they were rising slowly, she was actually coming. He started to wonder to himself what sort of demon Mona would be, by the look of the claws a ferocious and scaly one no doubt, but nomatter, he needed her abilities and if she was vicious, it would only serve his situation the better.

As she slowly rose from the ground, light cascaded as well, beautiful silvery beams striking throughout the entire room, he became blinded, and in so, his bow would be more than useless. He quickly put it back on his back, put the arrow in its quiver, and pulled a long ornate silver knife from its scabbard on his left hip. He started to question his judgement, but there was no turning back, she had been summoned, hopefully she would be compliant.

The silvery light began to dim, and a slender figure stood in front of him. It turns out that Mona was a beautiful demon, looking a bit like a young human woman. she had pale skin, long white hair, and garbed in leather armor. It turned out that the claws he had seen were only weapons, they were not a part of her. Upon further inspection of the maiden that graced his sight he realized she also had curved horns and wings, this was definately a demon he thought, I hope I havent made a mistake.

Chapter 1: The Summoning

The call thundered throughout the room, shaking artifacts off of the walls and spilling the bowl. The book burst into flame and a clawed, scaly hand pulled up from botwixt the design written in blood, reaching out for the book and then dragging it into the symbols, where it vanished from existance.

The man calmly arose, aware of what had been done, this was the desired effect of his actions, and he was glad for it. If he had failed, his body would be being torn apart in the underworld right now, instead, the offering of a piece of his soul had been accepted by the demon. "Mona, will you come to me, I wish to speak to thee." the man said staring into the bloody mess on the ground.

A bloody roar echoed through the room and the walls began to crack. A normal person would be running in fear right now, but he had prepared for this day, he needed Mona more than anything else, Mona was his only chance. He pulled a beautiful bow off of his back and knocked a silver trimmed arrow in it, preparing for her arrival. He may feel confident but he isnt stupid.

"Mona, are you ready to join me?"he spoke to the ground, starting to feel confused. WHy hadnt she come up yet, she had answered the call, she had taken the offering, why was she still not with him? He started to worry, it was hard to obtain the dagger and book, he had already sacrificed a part of himself for this, if he failed, he would be doomed. He needed this, what would happen if he fail... his thoughts were interrupted when a screeching came from beneath him, she had acepted the offering, he would finally meet her.

Prologue

A dingy leatherbound book sat open on the floor, sprawling letters both in familiar languages and foreign tongues scattered in a seemingly random way upon the pages. A man sitting on the floor had a bowl of dark red liquid in an ornate bowl next to him, often dipping his hand in to copy a symbol from the book onto the ground. as he finished the design, the book seemed to close of its own accord. a knife was dipped into the blood filled bowl, and then pulled into the air as an incantation was spoken. The man then plunged the knife into his chest, allowing his blood to fall into the design, the symbols began to run together. He quickly plunged the knife into the book, a silver strand of light following from his chest along the tip of the blade. As it pierced the cover a silver light shone out and the man alled at the top of his lungs, "MOOOOONNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAA!"
